Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by one of the Kidogo Adventure Team and the adventure begins!
You will be brought to the volunteer house, where you will be based for the duration of your stay. The house is in a secure residential compound in the west of Nairobi. It is comfortable and a place for you to relax and socialise with the other volunteers. You will have breakfast and dinner at home each day (prepared by our own cook), with the food usually being typically Kenyan. Lunch is provided on the projects or with the activities.
On your first morning there will be an orientation to discuss your adventure schedule before you start the projects. If at any point you wish to change your schedule or incorporate other projects / activities, please speak to a member of the team and we will try our very best to accommodate this.
Each day you will be taken to the projects by the Kidogo Adventure driver. On most days you will have lunch at the projects and be collected again in the afternoon either to go back home or to go on to do other activities with the group.
Although you have come primarily to volunteer, we understand that you will also be keen to explore a bit of Kenya. There will be a number of activities arranged throughout your stay, including visiting the Masaai Markets, the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, the Giraffe Centre and other attractions that Nairobi has to offer.
If there is anything that you are particularly keen to see or do, please let us know before your trip and we will try to arrange it. You are welcome to do things independently too - but please let us know in advance and please note that the costs of this will have to be covered by you.
If your adventure is for 2 weeks or longer, there will be weekend safaris included. This will give you the opportunity to see more of Kenya and hopefully a lot of wildlife too!
